Catherine Ford, born in Bloomsbury (London) She was raised by the mother, grandmother, and her godparents. Her father left her family. Ford suffered from anxiety disorder that was rooted in word associations as a young teenager. Ford began performing in her teens, and was part of the National Youth Theatre. She gained admission to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, but decided after a week that she wasn't a good fit there. Ford rather applied to the Central School of Speech and Drama which she was eventually able to get the position on her 4th application. A classmate of hers included Shaun Dingwall, who would later have a recurring role in the role of Pete Tyler in Doctor Who. Ford's first appearance on television was the 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the moment she was done with school, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Tate made her television debut in the year 1991, appearing in shows such as The Bill. Men Behaving Badly. as well as London's Burning. Alongside her usual stage work, Tate was a part of with the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2000-2001. Tate was soon recognized for her stand-up comedies, which were added to Tate's selection in the year 1996.
