Golf isn't the same as other ball games. It doesn't have an established playing area. This makes it difficult to adapt to the different types of terrains that are found on every course. A course typically has 18 to nine holes. These are the areas of terrain that contain cups, which mark the hole where the ball is received. Every hole on a golf course includes a teeing grounds starting point, as well as an putting green that houses the cup. There are several standard forms of terrain that lie between the tees and the green, such as the fairway, rough (tall grass) and a variety of hazards such as water, rocks or sand-filled bunkers. Each hole is unique and has its own layout. Stroke play is the most favored method, especially at the top levels.
